From October 13 to 17, 2025, the 82nd session of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group II was held in Vienna, Austria. The session focused on the consideration of amendments to various UNCITRAL legal provisions related to the recognition and enforcement of electronic awards, including interpretive recommendations for the New York Convention, the Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration and its Explanatory Note, the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, and the Notes on Organizing Arbitral Proceedings.
The Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (also known as the "Greater Bay Area International Arbitration Center", hereinafter referred to as "SCIA"), participating as an observer to UNCITRAL Working Group II, was invited to attend the session. The delegation comprising Fan Qijuan, Director of SCIA Research Department; Peng Zhu, SCIA Arbitrator and Partner at Fangda Partners; and Fu Wenhui, Deputy Legal Counsel of the Research Office, participated in the session.
The SCIA delegation had an in-depth discussion with the Secretary of UNCITRAL, Anna Joubin-Bret, and other delegates. During the meeting, the delegation also proposed amendments to the draft texts, shared the innovative practices of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone regarding electronic awards and services - in international arbitration, and reached a consensus on further exchange and cooperation.
