On Feb 12, the South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (also known as the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, and Greater Bay Area International Arbitration Center, hereinafter referred to as the "SCIA") hosted a high-level dialogue with key enterprises at the SCIA Tower in Qianhai, Shenzhen.
The event also served as one of the annual activities of the South China Business and Law Forum (B&L Forum). The dialogue, themed "the Latest Development of Global Economy and Enterprises' Opportunities and Challenges", brought together over 80 representatives from well-known domestic and international enterprises to discuss the risks and challenges faced by key enterprises amid the complex and changing international economic situation, and to offer suggestions for the development of Chinese commercial arbitration from various perspectives.
Attending the event were Anthony Neoh SC, vice chairman of the SCIA Council and former chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission; Kwai Huen Wong, SCIA council member, former president of the Law Society of Hong Kong; Liu Chunhua, SCIA council member, head of the Legal Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong SAR; Roberto Azevêdo, SCIA council member and former director-general of the World Trade Organization (2013-2020); Peter Malanczuk, SCIA council member and professor at the University of Hong Kong; Zhao Hong, SCIA council member, professor at Peking University School of Law and former chair of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization (2016-2020); Huang Yayin, SCIA council member and vice president of the China International Economic and Trade Law Association.
They shared with the general counsels of key enterprises how to better utilize international rules and the unique advantages under the "one country, two systems, three legal jurisdictions" in the Greater Bay Area to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises through arbitration.
Dr. Liu Xiaochun, vice chairman of the SCIA Council, President of SCIA preside over the meeting and gave a welcome speech.
Roberto Azevêdo, SCIA council member and former director-General of the World Trade Organization (2013-2020) delivered a keynote speech.
Zhao Hong, SCIA council member, professor at Peking University School of Law and Former Chair of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization (2016-2020) gave comments.
Kwai Huen Wong, SCIA Council Member, Former President of the Law Society of Hong Kong discussed with business representatives.
