On 1 February 2026, the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) delegation headed by Dr. Liu Xiaochun, President of the SCIA, met with Mr. Zhang Yiming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, Ambassador Zhang highly commended SCIA for its long-standing efforts in promoting international trade and economic exchanges. He encouraged SCIA to continue leveraging the role of international arbitration to further facilitate economic and trade cooperation between China and the UAE, as well as other countries in the Middle East.

During his tenure as China's Ambassador to the UAE, Ambassador Zhang has actively promoted the deepening of the China–UAE strategic partnership, delivering fruitful outcomes across political mutual trust, economic, trade and financial cooperation, cultural exchanges, and innovation collaboration. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the First Class Order of Zayed II – a UAE national honorary medal.

Mr. Zhu Lian, Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the UAE, and others attended the meeting.
