SCIA Visits the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA)

On 3 February 2026, during Riyadh International Disputes Week (RIDW), Dr. Liu Xiaochun, President of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and Executive Chairman of the South China International Arbitration Center (HK) (SCIAHK), together with Sir William Blair, Council Member of the SCIA, Former Judge of the High Court of England and Wales and Independent Arbitrator at 3VB Chambers London, led an SCIA delegation on a return visit to the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA).

The SCIA delegation met with Mr. Hamed Merah, Chief Executive Officer of SCCA, and other representatives of the Center. The two sides reached new consensus on further deepening cooperation between their respective arbitration institutions and jointly supporting the development of international trade and commerce.

The SCCA is a financially and administratively independent institution established by Saudi Cabinet Decree in April 2014. Under the framework of Saudi Vision 2030, the SCCA is committed to becoming the preferred alternative dispute resolution choice in the Middle East and North Africa region. SCCA is also the organizer of the RIDW.

Prior to this, on 24 September 2024, the SCCA visited Shenzhen, during which the SCCA and SCIA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, jointly promoting arbitration collaboration between China and Saudi Arabia.
