On 21 March 2026, the 15th Meeting of the Third Council of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (also known as the South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Greater Bay Area International Arbitration Center, hereinafter referred to as "SCIA") and the Annual Meeting for 2026 was held at the SCIA Tower in Qianhai.
The meeting reviewed key matters, including SCIA's 2025 annual work report and its financial budget and final accounts. It recognized that in 2025, SCIA stayed committed to its party-autonomy approach, stayed committed to reform, openness and innovation, and continued to advance its institutional development in line with the rule of law, market orientation and internationalization, achieving the annual targets set by the Council.
The Council reviewed SCIA's accomplishments over the past year: notable advancements in rule-of-law development, marked by deepened statutory institutional reforms and further improved corporate governance; new strides in market-orientation, with the total disputed amount of commercial arbitration cases hitting a record high and the number of countries and regions involved in cases expanding to 146.
The Council noted that 2026 marks the APEC "China Year", a significant moment for China's ongoing commitment to global cooperation. SCIA will continue to adhere to its party-autonomy approach, keep pursuing steady progress and enhance its professional excellence on the international stage. By delivering higher-quality international arbitration services to both domestic and global parties, SCIA aims to provide greater certainty in risk prevention and dispute resolution for market participants worldwide amid an increasingly uncertain international economic and trade landscape.
Council members present at the meeting included Shen Sibao, Anthony Neoh, Liu Xiaochun, Roberto Azevêdo, Sir William Blair, Guo Xiaohui, Huang Yaying, Jiang Xiaowen, Elsie Leung, Liu Chunhua, Peter Malanczuk, Huang Xianhui, and Wang Guixun.
