On the occasion of the APEC China 2026, the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (also known as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Arbitration Center) has released the English edition of "The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods: Selection of Typical Arbitration Cases" to the global community. This publication aims to facilitate the development of cross-border trade, assist in building an open, stable, and predictable global economic and trade governance system, and continuously enhance the international credibility of Chinese arbitration.

On April 11, 1980, "The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods" (hereafter in CISG) was reviewed and adopted by UN General Assembly Resolution 33/93. Based on equality and mutual benefit, CISG aims to establish uniform rules for international sale of goods contracts, eliminate legal barriers in international trade, and promote the establishment of a uniform international economic order. China acceded to CISG on December 11, 1986, and CISG officially entered into force for China on January 1, 1988. As of June 2026, CISG has 97 contracting states, essentially covering the world's major trading entities.
This book features a selection of typical arbitration cases involving disputes over international sale of goods contracts handled by the SCIA since China's accession to CISG. It systematically outlines relevant adjudication rules centered around core disputes such as the application of CISG, the formation and validity of contracts, the obligations of buyers and sellers, remedies for breach of contract and damages, force majeure and change of circumstances, international trade terms (Incoterms), and payments. It provides professional guidance and references for practitioners both at home and abroad.
