On 9 September 2026, the Fifth Seminar of the International Commercial Expert Committee and the Reappointment Ceremony of Expert Members of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) were held in Shanghai. Zhang Jun, Chief Justice of the PRC and President of the SPC, delivered a speech at the event.

The seminar was presided over by Deng Xiuming, Justice of the First Rank of the PRC and Executive Vice-President of the SPC. Wang Shumei, Justice of the Second Rank and Standing Member of the SPC's Adjudication Committee, read out the Notice on Inclusion of Certain International Commercial Mediation Institutions in the "One-Stop" Diversified International Commercial Dispute Resolution Mechanism and the Decision on the Reappointment of Certain Expert Members for the International Commercial Expert Committee.

The SPC decided to continue to appoint 37 expert members for the International Commercial Expert Committee, 27 of whom are arbitrators of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA).

Shen Sibao, Chairman of the SCIA Council; Anthony Neoh SC, Vice Chairman of the SCIA Council; and Council members Sir William Blair, Peter Malanczuk, Rimsky Yuen, and Zhao Hong are expert members of the International Commercial Expert Committee.

Council members Shen Sibao, Anthony Neoh, Sir William Blair, and Peter Malanczuk delivered keynote speeches, while Zhao Hong made a written statement.

The International Commercial Expert Committee of the SPC was established in 2018 as a measure to implement the Opinion Concerning the Establishment of the Belt and Road International Commercial Dispute Resolution Mechanism and Institutions issued by the General Office of the Communist Party Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council of the PRC. The SCIA is among the first international arbitration institutions included in the "one-stop" mechanism of the SPC.

Liu Xiaochun, Vice Chairman of the SCIA Council and President of the SCIA, shared at the seminar, from the perspective of the SCIA's innovative practice, "the Main Application Scenarios of Artificial Intelligence in International Commercial Arbitration and Three Issues that Require Attention".

Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL); Ignacio Tirado, Secretary-General of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT); and Teresa Cheng SC, Secretary-General of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed), among other representatives of international organizations, delivered remarks at the seminar.
