On the occasion of the China Forum on International Legal Cooperation (2026), Manoj Kumar Sharma, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal, and Ángel Valencia Vásquez, Attorney General of Chile, visited the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (also known as the Greater Bay Area International Arbitration Center and the South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, hereinafter referred to as the "SCIA") on 15 September 2026.

Liu Xiaochun, President of the SCIA, briefed the two delegations on the innovative development of international arbitration in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone since the beginning of China's reform and opening up, as well as the basic situation of enterprises from the two countries resolving cross-border disputes on the SCIA platform.

The two delegations toured the SCIA's dedicated international arbitration hearing area, international institutional cooperation area, case filing area, and the SCIA History Gallery, gaining an in-depth understanding of Shenzhen and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's unique location advantages and the distinctive features of the rule-of-law practice under "one country, two systems and three jurisdictions".

Given the considerable differences between the legal systems of Nepal and Chile, the two delegations observed that the SCIA, with its highly internationalized governance, rules, and arbitrator structures, serves as an important bridge between the civil law and common law systems and between East and West.

Members of the Nepalese delegation accompanying the visit included Uma Sharma, spouse of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal; Bimal Poudel, Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nepal; and Bharat Khanal, Consul General of Nepal in Guangzhou, among others.

Accompanying the Chilean delegation were Roberto Andrés Garrido Bedwell, Prosecutor of the Biobío Region, Claudia Alejandra Ortega Forner, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the National Prosecution Service of Chile, and others.

He Peng from the International Liaison Department of the China Law Society, Gan Guiping from the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, and An Xin from the SCIA accompanied the exchange.
